The below has been floating around MySpace as a bulletin. Posting it is what gave me the idea to have all sales from RetardedTShirts.com benefit a different charity every month. ARNO is getting the first round of love because they are "CRITICALLY low on donations" at the moment.

My friend Kelly posted this in her blog earlier and I'm posting it as a bulletin with her permission.

Today I went to help out with some rescue cats and dogs.
Many are animals that were left behind after Katrina, the rest are animals that were simply abandoned or taken from cruelty cases.
I cannot tell you how heart breaking it is to be surrounded by so many caged souls, this is not right.this is not how they should have to live their lives.
However, there arent enough people willing to take them in or willing to donate their time or money into helping them. If you have half a heart PLEASE consider being a volunteer or at least donating a little bit of money to A.R.N.O.
It is a non profit organization and they are doing all they can to help these animals.
They cover health car, medications, food, shelter, toys EVERYTHING for these animals but they have limited funds.

Anyway, This first dog is Cowboy. He has a very sad story.
He was originally used as bait for fighting dogs but because he refused to fight back the "owners" beat him and threw him in a ditch where he was supposed to have died. Luckily someone found him and called Robin (owner of ARNO) she took him in and treated him, he is also heart worm positive which ARNO will be paying to treat. This little boy, despite his horrible history is amazing! He is so shy but SO sweet. I got the chance to take him running with me, he loved it and licked me all over my face before putting him back into his cage.

HE NEEDS A HOME!
ESP. WHILE UNDERGOING TREATMENT FOR HEART WORMS! VERY IMPORTANT FOR HIS HEALTH!

Now this little girl, pure bred blue pitt. even has her papers. She is five months old and as sweet as can be!
We will really have to look into who we adopt her out to because of her breed.
If we have the SLIGHTEST feeling that this animal will be used for fighting or for any other money making purpose we will not give you a second glance. She is really beautiful and playful. She is also in need of a good home.

and finally, the kitty that won me over. this little guy was so goofy and sweet.
I held him for nearly an hour and he was so content and loving the whole time.
I hope he finds a good home but his chances are slim due to him being a little older.

What can I do to help?
Hop your ass on over to the Animal Rescue New Orleans (ARNO) website and donate a few bucks via Paypal. Even if you only cough-up $5 it would make a difference. Seriously, I hate the bulletins about animals that float around MySpace that don't end with some sort of call to action. Passing around pictures of abused animals doesn't do jack-shit to help.

Yeah… And, I'm still wondering what that was spent on / being spent on. New Orleans is still more screwed-up than a soup sandwich. I swear to blow and strippers that we still have huge areas that are without power and look like a third world country after being bombed.
